P 770 Vanguard Class sub in bubble on card Royal Navy Triang Minic Ships
Here is a Vanguard class submarine from Tri-ang Minic Ships. It is in a bubble on a card. Produced about 2005 Vanguard Class SSBN - The Vanguard Class Submarines were designed to deploy the Trident Missile system replacing the aging Resolution Class which deployed the Polaris Missile system, Britain's initial nuclear deterrent. The boats were based largely on the American Ohio Class the major difference being that the Vanguard Class was designed with 16 missile tubes instead of the 24 missile tubes of the Ohio Class boats. Twice as heavy and twenty metres longer the new Vanguard Class Submarines had many advantages over the Resolution Class including more space, with a fourth deck, and less crew due to increased automation. They also have improved sonar and carry the Spearfish torpedo. 15900 tons length 150 metres. Length 4.85 inches or 123mm Impressive and very detailed. Tri-ang code P770£4.95 Add to cart -
Packaging variation Albion Class LSD Triang MODEL ships
Here is something different which I have found. This is a model of the Albion Class Landing Ship Dock made as part of the generic releases which followed the Limited Editions. Triang found itself in a dispute with the mighty Hornby Hobbies of the use of the Minic trade mark. The rest of the box is plain.. Eventually Triang won as Hornby had not used the brand for over 25 years. An interim ruling meant that some models were packaged as Triang Model The ship has not been removed from its box. RFA Sir Bedivere SLEP version by Mountford new model 2020
Here is a new and highly detailed model of the ship RFA Sir Bedivere SLEP (modernised)version. L3004. She was commissioned in 1967 and saw extensive service in many of Britain's naval operations since. Her home port was Marchwood. Sir Bedivere first saw combat in the Falklands War of 1982, and at the start of the war, the ship was at Vancouver, Canada but started back to Marchwood immediately. After loading at Marchwood, she left for Ascension where she picked up the sappers of 11 Field Squadron Royal Engineers. The ship suffered slight damage on 24 May whilst lying in San Carlos Water when an Argentine Skyhawk dropped a bomb that glanced off the ship. The sappers disembarked for Port San Carlos on the evening of the 25th May. In 1994, the ship was modernised in a service life extension programme to give it an extra 15 years. The ship was lengthened by 12 metres, had its superstructure altered to a more modern design, the engines were replaced, and the ship's bow thrusters were changed for more powerful models. This model is of the modernised version. After returning to service in 1998, the ship was sent to Sierra Leone in 2000 when the U.K. intervened there. The ship operated as the command vessel for British and American mine countermeasures ships. She then left the U.K. in September 2002 for the Mediterranean and operation Argonaut in 2002 and was diverted to the Persian Gulf accompanied by four British minesweepers. After minesweeping operations were complete, the vessel operated as a troop support ship for the Royal Marines. The ship returned to the U.K. on 29 May 2003, carrying the boats and men of 539 Assault Squadron Royal Marines. In December 2008, Sir Bedivere was sold to Brazil, joining her sister ship Sir Galahad (XAS 003). She was handed over to the Brazilian Navy on 21 May 2009, after a major refit in Falmouth. She was commissioned into service with the Brazilian Navy, and renamed NDCC Almirante Saboia (G-25), after a late senior naval officer, Admiral Saboia, G25. Thanks to Wikipedia for info. If you are interested in the Brazilian version of this model please email us. It is made of resin and metal, released July 2020. Scale is 1/1250 ref XAS 018£40.00£38.00 Add to cart -
Royal Navy submarine set, V Class and T class, mint carded Royal Navy, S 790 Triang Minic Ships
This is the Royal Navy submarine set. One Vanguard class and one Trafalgar class . From Tri-ang Minic Ships. They are mint and carded. Vanguard Class SSBN - The Vanguard Class Submarines were designed to deploy the Trident Missile system replacing the aging Resolution Class which deployed the Polaris Missile system, Britain's initial nuclear deterrent. The boats were based largely on the American Ohio Class the major difference being that the Vanguard Class was designed with 16 missile tubes instead of the 24 missile tubes of the Ohio Class boats.Twice as heavy and twenty metres longer the new Vanguard Class Submarines had many advantages over the Resolution Class including more space, with a fourth deck, and less crew due to increased automation. They also have improved sonar and carry the Spearfish torpedo. 15900 tons length 150 metres. Length 4.85 inches or 123mm Trafalgar Class SSN - Originally designed for Cold War operations in the Mediterranean and North Atlantic the Trafalgar Class design was a follow on from the successful Swiftsure Class but incorporated many improvements making them both faster and quieter. The hull of is covered by anechoic tiles to absorb sonar signals and noise reduction is achieved through the pump jet propulsion system which is a multi blade rotor turned by a jet of water that is quieter than a conventional propeller. The lead ship HMS Trafalgar was completed in 1983 before the pump jet propulsion system was ready and has a seven bladed propeller instead. Like previous British nuclear submarines the Trafalgar Class boats have a "teardrop hull", the fin has been strengthened and the hydroplanes can be retracted to allow the submarine to surface through ice. The principle role of these "hunter-killer" vessels is to attack ships and other submarines and in this capacity they could support and protect a convoy or taskforce. With the fitting of the Tomahawk cruise missile system they will also be capable of a land attack role. The Trafalgar Class are fitted with cameras and thermal imaging systems that allow them to be used in a surveillance role. 5208 tons Impressive and very detailed. 2.75 inches or 70mm£6.00 Add to cart -
