Hi and welcome to CN Collectables website for Triang Minic Ships, Mountford Model Ships and other toys, books, diecasts, heritage transport magazines and paraphernalia.
November already. As well as 14 new submarine models there is RFA Tidespring which is the first of the Tides to be produced in metal. Retooled and each Tide will be produced in the next few weeks. We recently saw the master of the Type 31 which is going into production soon. The status of Mountford and XAS releases this year is on a list in our library.
IWe continue to list and sell old ships and generally tidy up ourselves. The new submarines have been selling well. No dates on anything else alas. Glad to have two new possible painters who have come forward. So we will see what they can do and hopefully they will enable the production process to speed up.
We still need some more painters for Mountford Models, people who are skilled but also able to do the same thing again and again and not be creative in that a model’s paintwork is what it exactly is at the time of the model. Yes this is paid piece work so drop us a line if you are interested. Or ask a few friends who might be interested. There are currently six or seven new releases which have been mastered but not yet made because of the lack of painters. We are planning next year’s releases and these include the Type 31 frigate, batch 1 of the Type 26 HMS Glasgow and sisters, some earlier cold War Russian and American submarines, some freighters and a collection of ferries.
Priority will be given to pre orders of new releases.
The HMS Prince of Wales and Queen Elizabeth are still at the painting stage. They will be 74.95 so if you want to place a pre order then let us know. No money taken until in stock. Expect the POW as a totally new model to sell out very quickly.
We have a load of type 45s that are faulty in some way so some of those have been listed this week and lots of old Triang too. They are mostly listed as having spent much time at sea. On ebay too and a lot of them are Duncans. we think that they are a perfect project for anyone who would like to create the other six Daring type 45s that the stupids cancelled.
There are also offers on USN escorts.
Orders are working well and usually turned around in a few days. We tend to visit the Post Office at least twice a week.
We love model buses, railways and all forms of transport so a lot of Diecast models have been recently added to the site. There are a load of heritage transport magazines added too. Some surplus Cds have begun to appear too.
A list of new Mountford models planned and their manufacturing status is posted in the Library as are Missives 2 to 5. we are now thinking about the 2020 models.
The River class patrol boats are cast and will be painted after the carriers. Mannanan is also cast and Lewis and Clark and Hermes 77 are being cast. Also the type 31 frigate.
The last general Newsletter was in June. Mountford Missive 6 is now written and will be included in parcels and put into the library on Tuesday.
Kits are discontinued and full hull submarines are unlikely to be remade unless enough of you request them. So those listed here are the only ones around. The priority for Mountford is to make new models and keep supplies of the recent releases. What we list is what we have; here and covering the other sites on which we list.
If you are very keen on a non available Mountford model please email us and we will add you to the list. The bigger the list the sooner that ship goes on the to be remade programme. We need at least 10 firm orders.
Old and used Triang items we use three categories mint/good, playworn/reasonable and tatty for restoration ie for TLC. Trying to get more old triang harbour items listed.
You are welcome to look around and then if you want to make a purchase please register and off you go.
Triang stocks reduced significantly in 2018 and again this year.
Sometimes we are able to acquire out of stock ships on the secondary market, ie from other collectors or shops. The Library section is where previous newsletters and articles on Triang Ships are stored. The most recent one in the library is the November 2019 newsletter.
Mountford Missives are newsletters purely devoted to the Mountford range. There is a busy programme ahead and we will try and circulate these to all who purchase a Mountford Model. These are also in the library.
We have used stock of most of the popular harbour accessories such as quay straights, breakwaters, warehouses, oil tanks, customs sheds and cranes. There are 2 categories really; used and very used. If what you want isn’t listed then please email. Time to list is always at a premium.
We only list an item on one of our sites and give it a unique code number. You will find many items which are only on this site. From time to time there are some special offers. There are also a good range of old ships. One of our specialities is the Tender Loving Care category which is for repaint and restoration. Triang ships are amazingly tough. Another category is the 2019 Sale which is a selection of mostly Navy ships with slight faults, usually the printing. I think that the manufacturing process prints the decal and then the bubble almost at the same time so sometimes the ink doesn’t quite dry or the print doesn’t quite take. It’s reasonable to suppose that the other sides are fine.
CN Collectables on Ebay is now into its 19th year now and continues because it is so easy to use in almost every part of the world. We have had customers in 76 countries plus BFPO,AFPO, Britannia Naval College and several ships including the much lamented HMS Illustrious. We had news this month that the Groovycart service is being closed by the designers as technology has moved on since it began. This site is just starting its fourth year.
There is no news on any further Triang releases but we can confirm that Charles was alive and well and we had a long conversation in November 2017 but silence ever since. regrettably the TMS website disappeared recently.
